Butternut Pumpkin “Waltham”

The Waltham Butternut pumpkin is a beloved heirloom variety known for its sweet flavor, smooth texture, and culinary versatility. Developed in the 1940s in Waltham, Massachusetts, USA by Charles Leggett. A Classic bell-like butternut form with a long neck and bulbous base with deep orange, smooth, and sweet—described as “smooth as butter and sweet as a nut”.  Ready in around 105 days from sowing producing 1.5 – 2.5kg fruit, about 3 per plant.  All gardeners and cooks love this one.

Companion Planting
• Good Neighbours: Beans, Cabbage, Eggplant, Peas, Radish, Sweet Corn, most herbs, Nasturtium, borage and marigold to attract pollinators
• Bad Neighbours: Potato, Jerusalem artichoke, Cucumbers or melon can get tangled up and tomatoes, Capsicums and eggplant can compete for nutrients and alliums can inhibit growth
