Brussel Sprouts f1 Hybrid

Brussels Sprouts ‘Doric F1’ is a popular, high yeilding, modern variety known for its smooth, round flavourful sprouts. It’s a reliable choice, particularly for late fall and winter harvests, with good tolerance to white blister and mildew. The plants are relatively compact, making them suitable for exposed sites, and the flavor is said to improve with cold exposure, especially after a touch of frost. Our selection is for the mid to mid late harvest period. This variety is the most popular commercial variety in Tasmania. Medium plant – large, dark green sprouts. Cultivation; Sow December to February. Sow 4 seeds 1cm deep in a thumb sized depression, 60cm apart. Cover the seeds with fine compost. Gradually thin the plants to select the best. In gardens that have mild Winters and no frosts or are warm, it is likely that brussel sprouts will be affected by aphids, in these situations the sprouts will be spoilt and inedible whenever they are grown, so it may not be possible to grow this particular vegetable successfully.
