Taylor Horticultural Cranberry (Taylors Dwarf) – Dried Bean – A treasured heirloom from the 1800s, long grown in home gardens and brought to America by Italian immigrants. This semi‑runner bush bean reaches around 45 cm tall, producing early soft‑pink flowers followed by beautiful speckled pink‑and‑white beans. Occasional deeper red off‑types appear, true to the classic heritage of the variety.
Pods begin as flattened and mottled, then mature into striking cranberry‑coloured shells with splashes as the seeds dry inside. The beans have a rich nutty flavour and a creamy texture, holding their shape perfectly in slow‑cooked dishes.
Growing:
Sow 1 cm deep in mid‑November after the last frosts. Space plants 20 cm apart with 30 cm between rows. Feed with COF and supplement with liquid fish emulsion to maintain nitrogen through the season. Water consistently for best yields.
