Choy Sum

Choy sum, also known as Chinese flowering cabbage or ‘yu choy’, is a leafy green vegetable popular in Asian cuisine, particularly chiense dishes. It’s characterized by its bright green oval leaves, white flower stems, and yellow flowers. It’s known for its mild flavor, crunchy stems, and tender leaves, making it versatile for various cooking method. Cultivation; Sow in early Spring and again late Summer to early Autumn. Prior to sowing add a good layer of mushroom compost and rake in complete organic fertiliser. Sow seed 1 cm apart in 5 mm deep furrows about 60 cm apart. Thin the plants to about 8 cm in the row. Autumn sown plants can stay in the ground and be harvested several times.
