SUNFLOWER – Ruby (10 Seeds)
Helianthus annuus
Pollen-less single headed variety, that produces uniform flower heads with stunning bi-colour rube red 15cm flowers with a double layer of petals. An eye catching variety that make excellent flowers with a long vase life.
Prefers a rich well-drained soil in an open sunny position for the best displays. Hardy plant that once establishing has few demands other than sunshine and moderate water.
- Height: 90-120cm
- Flower heads: Single flower head – pollenless
- Germination: 3-7 days, temp above 18oC
- Sowing: 1cm deep. Start in pots or direct in ground (if snails and birds are not an issue)
- Spacing: 40-50cm apart
- Soil fertility: Rich compost filled, well-draining soil. Sunflowers have a high potassium requirement and ensure your soil is not boron deficient.
Growing Tips: Water deeply occasionally rather than regular short sprinkles. Concentrate water towards the base of the plant rather than the leaves to avoid disease issues.
