Aster Balloon “Rose

The “Aster Balloon Rose” is a variety of China Aster (Callistephus chinensis) known for its large rose ink, double flowers that resemble baloos before they open. These flowers are densely packed with petals and have a dome-shaped appearance, with a diameter of 12-15cm. The plants are typically 50-60cm tall and have a pyramidal growth habit. They are popular for cut flower arrangements, boasting a long vase life. 
  • Flowers:

    The flowers are double, meaning they have many layers of petals, and they are a vibrant rose-pink color. They are known for their tightly packed, dome-shaped appearance. 

  • Size:

    The plants grow to be about 50-60cm tall. The flowers themselves are 12-15cm in diameter. 

  • Growth Habit:

    They have a pyramidal growth habit, meaning the plant gets wider as it grows taller, creating a cone shape. 

  • Other Names:

    They are also known as China or crown aster. 

  • Cut Flowers:

    They are excellent for cut flowers because of their large size, strong stems, and long vase life (up to two weeks). 

  • Growing Conditions:
    They prefer well-drained soil and a sunny location. They should be watered regularly, but not overwatered.
