Saffron Crocus Corms

Saffron Crocus Corms – Organically Tasmanian Grown –  Most expensive spice in the world!

5 Larger Corms – Will flower in first season

Plant in a weed free bed Jan – March cutting off top fluff above corm before planting.  Plant 10-15cm apart in a decent soil but no major fertilizers.  Flowers will come up end of march – April along with grass like leaves that will die back in November.  Keep area weed free during growing season.  Feed with a little seasol/fish emulsion after flowering as the leaves will gather nutrients ready for dormancy and any nutrients stored after flowering will be next seasons energy.  The life cycle is very similar to a daffodil but happens 6 months earlier.

The red threads on the purple flower are the spice you eat.  To harvest pinch out the 2 or 3 threads/stigmas and dry inside on a paper towel and store in an airtight container.  Add to drinking water for a vitamin hit, soak in a little boiling water and add to risottos/pastas etc.

Price includes parcel postage rate as they are a little larger than envelope size
