FRENCH RUSKI (Porcelain)

With large cloves and a strong garlic flavour, French Ruski is a wonderful mid season strain of French Canadian garlic.  A cold climate garlic that is more tolerant of wet soils and growing at altitude and can produce massive large bulbs with good 7-8 months of storage.  It only produces  4 to 5 cloves but are larger than other garlic’s cloves.

HARVEST:Mid season when 6 green leaves remain

STORAGE: 6-8 months

USES: Slow cooking, sautéed & raw

CLOVE DESCRIPTION: Very large cloves with blunt tip, 4-6 cloves per bulb, pinky yellow stripes in a single layer around the stem

 

>>Garlic are cool season, frost tolerant plants. Garlic require a cool soil and sown at 5mm deep, Germination takes approx 10 – 21 days to germinate depending on conditions, however unlike a seed timing to emerge is not exact.  They come up when the conditions suit. Placing garlic in the fridge before planting may help them think the weather is cooling and it’s time to sprout which may help in getting them come up quicker.
