Brocolli and cauliflower – The secret to growing summer brassicas is to sow them in the beginning of September so that they are still young seedlings before the spring equinox. If they are planted to early and have a bit of growth on them, the light change of spring equinox will cause them to bolt. If planted later, the heat will make them bolt, so early September is your best time to plant for your summer crop.
